However, he ended up being undrafted, but still found engagement with the Atlanta Falcons, although e didn`t play for the team until 2007, spending a season at Hamburg Seas Devils of NFL Europa, and with this team Brent won the World Bowl (XV) in 2007, in a match in which his team defeated Frankfurt Galaxy. The next year he was summoned by the Falcons and played for them until 2012. 2009 season was his breakout year; he recorded 66 tackles and six interceptions. The following season he continued in the same manner, with 87 tackles and five interceptions, earning a spot in the Pro-Bowl. Wade Phillips Net Worth

Published

on

Harold Wade Phillips was born on the 21st June 1947, in Orange, Texas USA, and is a professional football coach probably best recognized for being the defensive coordinator for the National Football League (NFL) team – the Denver Broncos. Previously, he was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers, etc. His career has been active since 1969.

So, have you ever wondered how rich Wade Phillips is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Wade’s net worth is over $9 million; his salary per year is over $3 million. This amount of money has been accumulated through his successful career in the sports industry, mostly as a professional football coach.

Wade Phillips Net Worth $9 Million

Wade Phillips was brought up by his mother, Helen Wilson Phillips, and his father, Bum Phillips, who was a former NFL coach. He went to Port Neches–Groves High School in Port Neches, Texas, and upon matriculation enrolled at the University of Houston, where he started playing football – in the position of linebacker – for three years (1966-1968), distinguishing himself by setting the school record of 228 career assisted tackles, not broken until by Marcus McGraw in 2011.

Following graduation, Wade decided to start pursuing a career as a professional football coach, as he was hired at his college as graduate assistant to Bill Yeoman in 1969. In the following year, he began to work as a defensive coordinator at West Orange-Stark High School in Orange, Texas, and was there until 1972, when he became the coach at Oklahoma State University, working together with his father. Three years later, Wade was appointed as the coach of the defensive line at the University of Kansas. All of these jobs added a considerable amount to his net worth.

With this successful start to his career, Wade’s net worth further increased in 1976, when he was appointed as a defensive line coach of the Houston Oilers, staying with the team until 1980, following which he was contracted to the New Orleans Saints for five years, firstly as defensive co-ordinator, then interim head coach. He was then hired as the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1985 to 1988, after which he transferred to the Denver Broncos, reaching Super Bowl XXIV in 1990, where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers; however, he was re-hired and stayed for another three years.

Phillips subsequently spent five years with the Buffalo Bills, four with the Atlanta Falcons and two with the San Diego Chargers, before signing with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007 bringing his career to a new level, by becoming the head coach, and leading the team to the 2007 NFL playoffs, where the team was defeated, repeated the next season. The 2009 season was his best, as the Cowboys defeated the Eagles in the 2009-10 playoffs, which increased his net worth by a large margin. In the 2011 season, his contract was extended, but then fired, as the team had only one win in eight games.

Nevertheless, in the same year Wade was hired by the Houston Texans as the defensive coordinator, and two years later, he was chosen for the position of the head coach, but the team failed, so he was fired once again. Most recently, he joined the Denver Broncos as the defensive coordinator, and in the 2015 season Wade helped the team to win the first Super Bowl of his career, contributing further to his career.

Speaking about his personal life, Wade Phillips met his wife Laurie in 1964, when he played for Port Neches–Groves High School, where she was the head cheerleader. The couple has a daughter, Tracy Phillips, who is known in the media as an actress and dancer, and a son, Wes, who works as the coach for the Washington Redskins in the NFL.
