Richard Andrew Pitino was born September 18, 1952 in New York City, New York, United States. During his years of high school, and later at university he played basketball, and he was the captain of his high school team. Afterwards, he played as a standout guard in the NBA league.

In 1974, Rick Pitino started his coaching career and opened his net worth account as a coach. He began his career as an assistant coach in the basketball team called The Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warriors which represents the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. In 1976 Rick was promoted to interim head coach of the above mentioned team. However, he went on to work as the assistant coach of The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team which represents Syracuse University in 1976. From 1978 to 1983, Pitino added much to his net worth as the head coach of Boston University team named The Boston University Terriers. From 1983 to 1985, Rick Pitino worked as an assistant coach for The New York Knickerbockers team.

Since 1985, Rick has been increasing his net worth as a head coach only. From 1985 to 1987 he worked for The Providence Friars men’s basketball team. From 1987 to 1989, he trained The New York Knickerbockers team. From 1989 to 1997, Pitino coached The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team which represents the University of Kentucky. Since 1997, Rick Pitino has been accumulating his net worth in the National Basketball Association league and from 1997 to 2001 he has been working with the professional team of Boston Celtics. Since 2001, he has been the head coach of the Louisville team.

As a very successful coach, he and his teams won a long list of championships such as America East Regular Season Championship, SEC Regular Season Championship, Big East Regular Season Championship, AAC Regular Season Championship and others. As the coach he was named NABC National Coach of the Year for the 6th time in 1987, and John Wooden National Coach of the Year the same year. Moreover, he was named SEC Coach of the Year three times in 1990, 1991, 1996 and C-USA Coach of the Year in 2005.

Pitino is the co-author of the book titled ‘The One-Day Contract: How to Add Value to Every Minute of Your Life’.

In 1976, Pitino married Joanne Minardi. One of his sons, Richard Pitino, is the head coach of The Minnesota Golden Gophers men’s basketball team.
