Queen Latifah Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2016

Queen Latifah, born Dana Elaine Owans, is a famous American actress, model, record producer, singer, songwriter, television producer, comedian, rapper, voice actress and television presenter. Due to her wide and extensive knowledge of and success in all these aspects of the entertainment industry, Queen Latifah now has estimated net worth of $60 million. Her stage name Latifah was selected by Dana Elaine herself while reading a book of Islamic names at the age of 8. In English it can be translated to “very kind” or “delicate”. The first time Dana Elaine Owans appeared on stage was in 1988 as a young 18-year-old, when she started her musical career with some other girls in a hip-hop band called “Ladies Fresh”.

Queen Latifah Net Worth $60 Million

There she was noticed by DJ King Gemini, who later recorded her first rap demo “Princess of the Posse”. This song was found by producer Dante Ross who decided to sign the young musician to the Tommy Boy Music label. Of course her first contract didn’t bring her honours or a huge amount of money, but it allowed Queen Latifah to record and release her first song “Wrath of Madness”, and after that first small success, Latifah’s popularity started to rise. To the present day, she has released seven studio albums, the last of which called “Persona” surprisingly has become almost as popular as her previous creations, so with reference to this information it can be said that Queen Latifah continues being as popular as she was in 2005. The last album didin’t make such a big influence to Queen Latifah’s net worth as did “Trav’lin Light” in 2007, but reached a higher position in the Top R&B and Hip-Hop albums charts.

Queen Latifah also is known for playing voice roles in such a popular movie as “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” and playing the main character Chalene Morton in th movie “Bringing Dawn the House”. To her notable appearances we can mention are Georgia Byrd in “Last Holiday”, Penny Escher in “Stranger than Fiction”, Isabelle ‘Belle’ Williams in “Taxi” and her character Motormouth Maybelle in the movie called “Hairspray”.

Besides her career as an actress and musician, Queen Latifah is also known as the spokesperson for Curvation ladies underwear, Pizza Hut, Jenny Craig, and CoverGirl cosmetics of which she is the owner together with the perfume line “Queen”. As a famous and rich celebrity with a total net worth amount of $50 million, Queen Latifah is also the owner of a $1.3 million worth home in Los Angeles with over 2,000 square feet area, 3 bedrooms and a several bathrooms.

Queen Latifah’s car is silver Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe which was unveiled in 2007, the most expensive car in all the Rolls-Royce line at that time with a price tag of $443,000.

As with many other stars in show business, Dana Elaine couldn’t manage her career without a scandal. In 1996 Queen Latifah was arrested by police and later charged for having a handgun and some drugs (marijuana).

1 I don't want to be a supermodel. I want to be a role model.
2 If my brother and I wanted money in our pockets, we had to get jobs - my first was at Burger King.
3 I don't have to really be in the 60s. Every time I hail a cab in New York, and they pass me by and pick up the white person, then I get a dose of it. Or when they don't want to take you to Harlem. I grew up with that.
4 [on being considered a role model] There's no way I can represent for everyone. I can't represent for all women or all big women or all black women. It's important for people not to make celebrities their source of who they should be in life. I can't take on the pressure of being perfect. Nobody is.
5 [on moving from singing to acting] My mom taught me to never put all my eggs in one basket. I figured if I wasn't the best rapper, then I shouldn't completely rely on rap.
6 Dreams become reality when we put our minds to it.
7 It was a very vulnerable time going from being insecure about my body and who I am to becoming comfortable with me. I had to tune out what the hell everybody else had to say about who I was. When I was able to do that, I felt free.
8 There are times you can't really see or even feel how sweet life can be. Hopefully its mountains will be higher than its valleys are deep. I know things that are broken can be fixed. Take the punch if you have to, hit the canvas and then get up again. Life is worth it.
9 I am not one to turn down macaroni and cheese, even late at night. I love Italian food. I love pasta...A refrigerator full of water and Gatorade? Honey, that's just not gonna happen. -Woman's World, 6-13-06 issue
10 "I wish every woman would love herself and embrace what she was given naturally." quoted in WOMAN'S WORLD (6-7-05)
11 I'd like to have and adopt [children]. I think I'd be a great mom, honestly. I don't think I'll have any problem giving them all the love in the world. Discipline will be the hard part.
12 I really don't know how to be anyone else, and whenever I try to be anyone else, I fail miserably. Or I disappoint myself. It doesn't build my self-esteem, and it doesn't help me grow me at all.
13 I'm pretty much the same but trying to be better every day. I don't think the success has gone to my head. I don't think I'm alienating friends or losing friends.
14 I think it's important to create projects as an actor rather than wait for them. I love being able to take an idea and sell it to a studio.
