The website has sparked controversies around the world on copyright, file sharing, and civil liberty, but despite that, TPB would run well in the next few years with Peter as the project’s spokesperson. However, in 2008, he along with other operators were charged with assisting in copyright infringement; they were sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay $30 million in damages, which Peter contested.
