Peter Alan Laird was born on the 27th January 1954, in North Adams, Massachusetts USA, and is a comic book writer, best known to the world as one of the creators of the successful comics Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among many other achievements. His career started in the early ‘80s.
Have you ever wondered how rich Peter Laird is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources it has been estimated that Laird’s net worth is as high as $20 million, an amount earned through his successful career as a comic book writer.
Peter Laird Net Worth $20 Million
Little is known about Peter before he became successful comic book writer. After finishing high school, Peter enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, from which he obtained a B.F.A. in Printmaking. He then started a career as a freelance illustrator, and worked for a local newspaper in Northampton, Massachusetts, earning $10 per illustration. Also, he was working for the fanzines such as The Oracle.
Nevertheless, that all changed when he teamed up with Kevin Eastman to create the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The two first presented their comic book at a comic book convention held at a local Sheraton Hotel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with a print of only 3,200 copies. To everyone’s amazement, the comic book struck a chord with the public, and immediately became a hit. The two were printing and selling more copies than they had ever imagined possible. Their so-called Mirage Studio, which initially consisted of coffee tables and couches, was replaced by a professional artistic studio, and very soon they needed manpower to handle the workload, and new faces were brought in, including Steve Lavigne, as a letterer, Ryan Brown as an inker, penciller Jim Lawson and cover painter Michael Dooney. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became an international hit. Laird was only intermittently involved in the constant development of the animated series and other ancillary products, as he stayed loyal to his love for comics rather than animated productions associated with TMNT, even though it became very popular around the world..
Apart from the TMNT, Peter has been involved in other creations, including Stupid Heroes, and Planet Racers, a collaboration with Jim Lawson.
Peter has also started the Xeric Foundation, through which he helps self-publishers, but has also supported other charitable organizations.
Regarding his personal life, Peter is married to Jeannine, who he met in the early ‘80s, however, there are no other details about their marriage.
