During his career he won 51 of 56 fights, winning the world heavyweight title and regaining it twice. Ali was named the Sportsman of the Century by Sports Illustrated magazine, and Sports Personality of the Century by the BBC. Muhammad is also known for winning the gold medal in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Ali was nicknamed as “The Greatest” and had fights with such boxers as George Foreman and Joe Frazier. In 1981 Muhammad ended his career as a professional boxer. Despite this fact, he is still involved in various activities.

Muhammad Ali Net Worth $80 Million

So how rich is Muhammad Ali? It is estimated that Muhammad’s net worth is $80 million. The main source of his net worth is, of course, his extraordinary career as a boxer. There are probably few people in this world who have not heard anything about Muhammad Ali. At the time when Muhammad was an acclaimed boxer he also expressed his opinion about various issues, including racism. Muhammad is admired by many people and there is no doubt that he has inspired and encouraged many. As Ali still has various activities, there is a chance that his net worth will become higher.

Muhammad became interested in boxing under very rare circumstances. He was attacked by a thief and wanted to run after him and beat him up, but the police officer, Joe E. Martin then told him that he should learn how to box and only then threaten someone, so he learned how to box, and was soon winning amateur fights and various titles, the last at the Olympics. In 1960 Muhammad started his professional career. He had an opportunity to fight against Jim Robinson, Lamar Clark, George Logan, Henry Cooper and many other boxers. All of the wins made him even more famous and acclaimed among others related to this sport. Step by step Ali’s net worth became higher. In 1964 Muhammad fought Sonny Liston for the title of world heavyweight champion, which he won – the youngest world heavyweight champion ever – and which had a huge impact on the growth of Ali’s net worth. He regained this title again in 1974 and later in 1978, and during his career participated in several great fights, including against Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Joe Bugner, Ken Norton and latterly Larry Holmes. Despite the huge success Muhammad achieved, he decided to announce his retirement in 1979. Unluckily, this retirement did not last long and he participated in several more fights when already suffering illness. In 1981, Ali decided to really retire and only three years later he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s syndrome.

Even before retiring from boxing, Muhammad still appeared in various other events, and had other activities, including campaigning for religious freedom – including converting to Islam, and changing his name – against racism, and objecting to the Vietnam war for which he was jailed. His health worsened after his retirement, and he cannot be as active as before. Let’s hope that he will be able to recover from his health problems and that he will live a long life.

If to talk about Muhammad’s personal life, it can be said that he was married four times and has nine children. He was first married to Sonji Roi (1964-66), and then to Belinda Boyd (1967-77), who also converted to Islam and with whom he has four children. Thirdly he was married to Veronica Porsche (1977-86) fathering two children; and finally to Yolanda “Lonnie” Williams in 1986 – they have an adopted son and live in Arizona.

All in all, Muhammad Ali is one of the greatest personalities. During his career as a boxer he was able to prove that he is worth being called one of the best boxers in history, winning fights against all the other heavyweight boxing contenders at the time. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. There is no doubt that Ali has made his name in the history of boxing, and that no matter what, his name will be remembered for a long time, and he will be an inspiration for many people.
