During the 1960s, he moved to London, where he covered stories about the Algerian War, building the Berlin Wall, and the Vietnam War.

In 1964, Morley was hired by the CBS channel and at the beginning he worked from London, where he was named London Bureau Chief in 1967. Morley worked on the show until he decided to retire, only a week before his death, when CBS broadcast the documentary about him, entitled “Morley Safer: A Reporter’s Life”.
