Maurice Edward Clarett, born on the 29th of October, 1983, is a former American Football player, famous for playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and Omaha Nighthawks, and now a sought-after speaker.

So how much is Maurice Clarett’s net worth? As of early 2016, it is reported to be $15,000 gained mostly from his speaking engagements and the time he spent as a football player.

An Ohio native, Clarett grew up in Youngstown with two older brothers to parents Myke and Renee, but Clarett has always been part of trouble, at an early age he had already been sent to a juvenile detention centre because of his behaviour. During his stint in the centre, he met a high school football coach, who worked with a judge on his behalf in exchange for house arrest and practicing football every day.

He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School as one of the best prep football players in the state of Ohio. He immediately received offers from several universities, but decided to stay in the state and enrolled at Ohio State University to play for the Buckeyes. Clarett helped his team win the BCS National Championship, making him a popular name in the world of football, and set to increase his net worth even at an early age.

Despite his amazing performance with the Buckeyes, Clarett was dismissed after one year of playing. Aside from his misbehaviour, he was removed from the university due to receiving benefits inappropriate for a college football player. After being kicked out of OSU, Clarett then tried to enter the National Football League. Unfortunately, he was not able to break the rules of the association, stating that a player had to be at least three years out of high school to be able to join the league.

After two years of substance abuse, in 2005 Clarett still managed to be drafted by the Denver Broncos. However, he continued with his disruptive behaviour, and sacked from the Broncos camp even before playing an actual game.

In 2006, Clarett was arrested for robbing a couple. The man decided to press charges against him despite his attempts at paying for the damages, so Clarett decided to take revenge and planned to kill the man, driving his car of loaded armour towards his home. However because of a missed U-turn, he was caught and sent to prison for seven years.

Inside his cell, Clarett decided to change – he became an avid reader and even started his own blog with the help of his girlfriend, called “The Mind of Maurice Clarett”.

Because of good behaviour, he was released after four years, and in 2010 he tried once again to play football, and was accepted by the Omaha Nighthawks in the UFL.

Subsequently, Clarett became a popular inspirational speaker, sharing his life experiences with various universities and football teams, from whom he gets most of his current income and therefore boosting his net worth.

In terms of his personal life, Clarett is with his long time girlfriend Ashley Evans and together they have one daughter.
