Matt Lauer Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Born Mathew Todd Lauer on 30 December1957 in New York City, New York USA, of part Romanian-Jewish ancestry. Journalist Matt is probably best known from hosting the TV program “The Today Show” that has been broadcast on NBS since 1996.

So how rich is Matt Lauer? Reputable sources have estimated that Matt possesses a net worth of $70 million, the majority of his wealth having been earned from his work on various TV shows and stations.

Matt Lauer Net Worth $70 Million

Matt Lauer mom Marilyn had her own boutique shop, and father Jay was a bicycle company executive.  Matt`s parents divorced when he was just a child, after which his mom took care of her son. Matt`s father was of Jewish descent, however Matt says that he was not brought-up as ‘anything’, but would like to know more about Judaism and his own relatives.

Matt Lauer eventually graduated from Ohio University with a BA in Media Studies only in 1979, however, Matt started working in the media industry when he took a position of a sideline reporter in the early 70s, and then Lauer began hosting a PM Magazine. Matt Lauer became known as a host of many TV talk shows, including the ones in Richmond, Providence, Boston and Philadelphia. All these contributions to TV programs undoubtedly boosted the total size of Matt Lauer’s net worth.

In 1979 Matt began working as a producer and presenter of late night news on WOWK-TV. Following this success, Matt Lauer started building his net worth with incomes while working as a reporter on various TV shows, at which he was successful, so soon afterwards Matt secured a job on 9 Broadcast Plaza, a live interview show. However, the main increase in the total size of Matt Lauer’s net worth occurred when he gained a position on NBC news, where Matt replaced the former reporter Margaret Larson. His success in this position led to him starting to work on “The Today Show”.

In 1997, Matt Lauer was promoted, and became a co-anchor of the show, and he is still working on “The Today Show” today. This show is as long as three hours, thus, it is certainly true Matt receives significant incomes from this show, which helps Matt to increase the total size of his current net worth. In fact, it is reported that Matt earns $25 million per year from this show. Currently, Matt is also known to have many additional jobs as regards the media.

Matt Lauer even appeared as himself at the beginning and end of the film “Land of the Lost”, with both scenes ending in violent physical confrontation between Matt and Will Ferrer: not forgotten by audiences.

As regards his personal life, Matt married for the first time in 1981. His marriage to producer Nancy Alspaugh lasted seven years. In 1989, Matt started a relationship with Kristen Gesswein, his colleague, however the couple broke up in 1996. Matt married Annette Rocque, a model from the Netherlands, in 1998. The couple has three children.

#Quote
1 (2013) Early on, I had five jobs in a row where I was either fired or canceled. One or two times you can say, "They don't know what they're talking about. They don't know talent when they see it." After the fifth time, if you don't look in the mirror and ask yourself some really serious questions about whether you're cut out to be in this business, you're an idiot.
2 (2013) I've always liked the idea of walking into a cocktail party where there are different people and finding some connection with almost everybody in the room.
3 (2013) I don't find anything comes out of getting in someone's face during an interview and screaming... When you have a sense that emotions are being used to manipulate, you have to jump in and cut it off. But when there's real, honest emotion coming out, like when Tom Cruise got worked up over his belief system on antidepressant drugs, you let that go because there's no replacing that reality. If you were to cut that off, you'd be doing your viewers a disservice. My job was to stay out of the way.
4 (2013) I was always more interested in asking people about themselves than I was telling them about me.
5 "I get letters from women, and they say, 'I love your Roman nose.' If I weren't on TV and I walked past that same woman, she'd go, 'Did you see the beak on that guy?' " --People, May 1994.
