Liza Minnelli Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Liza May Minnelli was born on 12 March 1946, in Hollywood, California USA, and is a singer and actress probably best known for her performance in the film “Cabaret”.  She is known variously as Lize Mineli, Liza Mineli, Liza May Minnelli and even as the Queen of Broadway or of Hollywood.

So just how rich is Liza Minnelli? Sources estimate that Liza has been able to accumulate an estimated net worth as high as $50 million, with her wealth having been earned thanks to her career as an actress, dancer, singer and choreographer, over a period of more than 40 years beginning in the 60s.

Liza Minnelli Net Worth $50 Million

Liza Minnelli’s  parents also were famous people, not only in America – her father Vincente Minnelli was a film director, while her mother, Judy Garland, was very well known as a singer, actress and dancer. So there is no surprise that Liza also decided on a career in acting, singing, dancing and the arts. As a young girl she attended the High School of Performing Arts and also Chadwick School. Liza Minnelli’s first appearance in a movie was when she was only three years old, when she appeared in “In the Good Old Summertime”, which starred her mother. However, her professional career actually began in the theatre in 1963 , in an off-Broadway revival of the a popular musical “Best Foot Forward”, for which she won the Theatre World Award. The next year, her mother invited her to perform with her at the London Palladium.

Liza Minnelli really started to earn her own net worth in 1969, when she had a chance to appear in the famous “The Sterile Cuckoo” – this movie was nominated for numerous of awards and was extremely popular, so Liza’s net worth also increased immediately. One year after she starred in “Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon”, but this film was not nearly as popular as “Cabaret”, which was released only two years later. For her appearance in “Cabaret” Liza won an Academy Award as the Best Actress and also BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, David di Donatello Award and Sant Jordi Award , plus she earned $250,000, a considerable amount then, and a big boost to her net worth.

This was a real breakthrough for Liza, and that’s why her net worth started to increase substantially – she was invited to take part in many different movies, and she also started to work as a voice actress. For example, she voiced the girl Dorothy from the famous movie “Journey Back to Oz” – her mother had starred in the original which was directed by Hal Sutherland. There she starred together with many famous people in show business, such as Mel Blanc, Paul Lynde, Milton Berle, Paul Ford and Margaret Hamilton. Later she played in “Lucky Lady”, “Silent Movie:, “New York, New York”, “Arthur 2: On the Rocks” and “The Uh in Ohio”. She also appeared as a guest in Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour, so there is no doubt that Minnelli’s net worth definitely continued to increase over many years.

On TV, Liza Minnelli made one of her latest appearances as a guest in “Smash” – the musical drama TV series created by Theresa Rebeck and released in year 2013. Overall, Liza has appeared in more than 25 films, and a similar number of both TV fims, series and specials, and in stage productions, which have all contributed to Liza Minnelli’s net worth, thanks to her hard work and undoubted talent.

In her personal life, Liza Minnelli was first married to Australian entertainer Peter Allen 1967 – he had been her protégé, yet she didn’t know that he was gay. They divorced in 1974, and she immediately married producer and director Jack Haley Jr. – they divorced in 1979. Again Liza quickly remarried, to Mark Gero, a sculptor and stage manager: they divorced in 1992. After that she was married to concert promoter David Gest from 2002 until they divorced in 2007. Minnelli has also been in several other relationships, but has no children. Her quite public problems with periodic drug and alcohol addiction have certainly had an influence on her less-than private life.

#Quote
1 I'm not a very good singer. I just know how to present a song, and honey, I think I've been through enough to do it right.
2 I don't mean to sound blase, but everybody in the house I grew up in was famous, and nobody cared. [Ira Gershwin's] advice to me was, 'Think about what you're saying'. Later on, when I heard Aznavour singing, I wanted to do what he did so I begged him to be my mentor. He taught me a lot about keeping the mystery alive.
3 [on filming Cabaret (1972)] We're trying to show the dirt and decadence and the perverse atmosphere of Berlin when the Nazis came to power. All the numbers take place inside the cabaret with real drag queens and cheap, tacky sets.
4 [on why she doesn't perform her mother's songs] They've been sung.
5 [on the death of Michael Jackson] He was a kind, genuine, and wonderful man. He was also one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. I loved him very much and I will miss him every remaining day of my life.
6 It was no great tragedy being Judy Garland's daughter. I had tremendously interesting childhood years - except they had little to do with being a child.
7 [on working with Robert De Niro in New York, New York (1977)] Sure, a class-A bastard. After the sneak preview in San Francisco, Bobby said to me in the car, "I don't mind being a bastard, as long as I'm an interesting bastard."
8 [on Judy Garland] She was a friend of mine, a trying friend, but a friend. That is what I tell myself: She did everything she ever wanted to do. She never really denied herself anything for me. See, I say, she had a wonderful life; she did what she wanted to do. And I have no right to change her fulfillment into my misery. I'm on my own broom now.
9 I'm always looking at the next thing. I'm too curious to look back . . . it's very hard to be unhappy when you're curious and grateful. You're busy. You don't have time to be unhappy. My biggest talent is I know who is more talented than I am. I find them and I go to them, and I learn.
10 My family's been in show business since the 1700s. I traced them. I'm bred to this. Like a racehorse. A thoroughbred. Look at my parents, my God. But it was my curiosity that made me do this. Because you could also say, "Look at Frank Sinatra Jr.." It's not like a natural thing that happens. You gotta work.
11 It's a waste of time to think about what I should have done and what I didn't. I really believe in that. That's how I react to the if-onlys of life. To moan and groan about something I shouldn't have done, could have done, might have done . . . who knows? It is what it is. You got what you got. I live my life one day at a time.
12 I remember playing in the Beverly Hills park with Mia Farrow and Candy [Candice Bergen] and Tisha Sterling and, while we sat in the sandbox, we could hear our English nannies talking about picture deals and costume direction and whose employer was going to win the Academy Award.
13 [2004] I feel like I haven't done my best work yet. I feel like there's a world of possibilities out there.
14 My mother gave me my drive but my father gave me my dreams.
15 Reality is something you rise above.
16 [in the film That's Entertainment! (1974)] Thank God for film, it can capture a moment and hold it there forever. If anyone ever asks you, "Who were they?" or "What made them so good?" I think a reel of film answers that question.
17 [12/99] I've got a good life, and I don't think anything can rock that anymore.
