After matriculating, she attended Towson University on an athletic scholarship from 2009 to 2012, studying early childhood education. While at Towson, she competed in gymnastics as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and was named Southeast Regional Gymnast of the Year and Easter College Athletic Conference Gymnast in 2012; she was the top-ranked competitor for the conference.
In 2013, she worked for the obstacle-course gym Alpha Warrior, meantime spending two years training for “American Ninja Warrior” alongside co-competitor Brent Steffensen. She was not able to complete the qualifying course, but was invited to the 2013 finals as a wildcard, but was unsuccessful. The following year she made history by being the first woman to complete a qualifying course of “American Ninja Warrior”, and was also the first woman to make it up to the warped wall. She competed in the finals of season six, the first woman to ever complete a city finals course. The run was notable since she was able to complete it despite her short frame; in some obstacles, she had to leap in order to finish them.
