Mablean Ephriam was born on the 23rd April 1949, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi USA, and is a former Los Angeles prosecuting attorney, but best known to the public from her appearances in such television shows as “Divorce Court” (1999-2006), “Hollywood Squares” (2001), and “Justice with Judge Mablean” (2014-2016). Ephriam’s career started in 1982.

Ephriam went to the Thomas Jefferson High School in South Central Los Angeles and later to the Whittier Law School, and received her Juris Doctor Degree in 1978 before beginning her law career in the Women’s Division of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, working as a corrections office.

In 1982, Mablean opened her law practice, mainly dealing with family and personal injury cases, and soon after, she became a Los Angeles Prosecuting Attorney.

In 1999, Ephriam was chosen to be a judge on the television show called “Divorce Court”, which follows the real-life divorce cases in dramatic re-enactments. She appeared in 12 episodes until 2006, while in the meantime, Mablean also appeared in five episodes of “Hollywood Squares” in 2001. In 2005, Ephriam appeared in the comedy called “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” starring Kimberly Elise, Steve Harris, and Tyler Perry, and in seven episodes of “Celebrity Fit Club”, managing to lose over 12% of her body weight, and maintaining the loss. A year later, she had a role in “Madea’s Family Reunion” with Tyler Perry, Blair Underwood, and Lynn Whitfield, while in 2009, Mablean played in “Madea Goes to Jail” alongside Tyler Perry, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Derek Luke. Most recently, Ephriam starred in 18 episodes of “Justice with Judge Mablean, all of these appearances contributing steadily to her rising net worth.

Ephriam has earned numerous awards during her twin careers, including Distinguished Service-Women’s Lawyer in 1993, Woman of the Year-California State Assembly 48th District in 1995, and Award of Excellence-State Women’s Department in 1996. She also won Spencer Brandeis Award from the Family Law Section-Los Angeles Bar Association in 1996 and Alumni of the Year-Whittier College in 1997.

In addition to her law practices, Mablean co-owns Jubilane Guest House, a bed & breakfast in Johannesburg, South Africa, which has increased her net worth significantly.
