Herb Alpert Net Worth $850 Million

Herb Alpert was brought up in a Jewish family, in the Boyle Heights section of Eastside Los Angeles by his parents Tillie and Louis Alpert, a mandolin player, so he showed an interest in music from the age of eight, when he started learning to play the trumpet and attend dance lessons. He attended Fairfax High School, after which he served in the US Army. When he returned home, Herb enrolled at the University of Southern California, and continued to pursue his music career, as he became a member of the USC Trojan Marching Band.

Herb`s professional career began in 1957, when he and songwriter Rob Weerts signed for Keen records, and started writing songs. The two are credited for songs such as “”Wonderful World”, and “Baby Talk”, among others, which became top 20 hits. He then began his career as a singer under the name Dore Alpert for the RCA Records, however, he and Jerry Moss founded Carnival records, and later changed the name to A&M Records in 1962, through which he has released the majority of his albums, but has also signed and collaborated with such artists as Liza Minnelli, The Carpenters, and Janet Jackson among others. He and Moss sold the company to PolyGram records in 1987 for around $500 million, which increased his net worth by a large margin.

His career as a singer brought fame to him, as he released more than 20 albums, some of which achieved platinum and gold status, which increased his net worth by a large margin. For the major part of his career however, he was the founder of the band Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass. His first album was released in 1962 “The Lonely Bull”, which was soon followed by the albums “Volume 2” (1963), and “South Of Border” (1964). Before the end of the 1960s, Herb`s popularity grew immensely, with the albums “Going Places” (1965), “What Now My Love” (1966), “Sounds Like…” (1967), and “The Beat of the Brass” (1968), among others all of which increased his net worth.

Herb successfully continued his career in the 1970s, releasing such albums as “You Smile – The Song Begins” (1974), “Coney Island” (1975), and “Just You and Me” (1976), among others. The 1980s didn`t change much, only the composition of his band, but that didn`t make problems, as albums “Fandango” (1982), “Keep An Eye On Me” (1987), and “Blow Your Own Horn” (1983), achieved platinum and gold status, increasing his net worth by a large margin.
To speak further of his accomplishments in the music industry, during the 1990s, Herb released some of his most popular albums, including “Passion Dance” (1997), and “Colors” (1999). Herb than decided to stop making music for a while and focus on other things, but in 2009 he came back with an album “Anything Goes”, which proved to be successful, increasing further Herb`s net worth.

Herb`s latest album is the 2015 release “Come Fly With Me”, but before that he released albums “I Feel You” (2011), “Steppin` Out and “In The Mood” (2013), which also added to his net worth.
Thanks to his talents, Herb has received several prestigious awards, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Lifetime Achievement Award by the Society of Singers in 2009, and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007, among others.
Regarding his personal life, Herb Alpert has been married to Lani Hall since 1974; the couple has a daughter – actress Aria Alpert. Previously, he was married to Sharon Mae Lubin (1956-71), with whom he has two children. Herb is known in the media for his charity work with his wife Lani, as they established the Herb Alpert Foundation. He also founded the Alpert Awards in the Arts with The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
