Harvey Weinstein Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Harvey Weinstein is a well-known film and television producer, businessman, as well as a screenwriter. To the public, Harvey Weinstein is perhaps best known as a co-founder of a film production and distribution company called “Miramax Films”. Founded by Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein, the company was purchased by “The Walt Disney Company” in 1993, under which they released such films as “Fahrenheit 9/11”, directed by Michael Moore, and “Kids” with Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce and Rosario Dawson. The brothers worked at the company until 2005, when they decided to open their own film studio, which they called “The Weinstein Company”. Under their company, the Weinstein brothers produced such films as “School for Scoundrels” with Billy Bob Thornton, “Rambo” starring Sylvester Stallone and Julie Benz, and, more recently, in 2014, “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” with Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. As a director, Weinstein is known for “Playing for Keeps” and “The Gnomes’ Great Adventure” movies. For his contributions to the film industry, Harvey Weinstein was awarded with Britannia Awards, Saturn Awards, British Independent Film Awards, as well as Producers Guild of America Awards.

Harvey Weinstein Net Worth $200 Million

A famous film and television producer, how rich is Harvey Weinstein? According to sources, Harvey Weinstein’s net worth is estimated to be $200 million, most of which he has accumulated from his involvement in “The Weinstein Company”.

Harvey Weinstein was born in 1952, in New York, United States, where he studied at John Bowne High School. Weinstein continued his studies at the University at Buffalo, and upon graduation established “Harvey & Corky Productions”. At the time, Harvey and his brother Bob worked on the production of rock concerts and shows. However, their passion for the film industry inspired them to launch their own film production studio. With the savings earned from “Harvey & Corky Productions”, the brothers founded “Miramax” company, named after their mother Miriam and their father Max. Initially, the company specialized in the release of music-related movies, for instance “Rockshow”, starring Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney. In 1982, the company gained a lot of public exposure after the release of “The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball”, on which they worked with the Amnesty International organization. Among the many successful films the company released at the time was “Scandal” with John Hurt, Ian McKellen and Bridget Fonda, Neil Jordan’s “The Crying Game” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” starring John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson and Uma Thurman.

When the Weinstein brothers left “Miramax” in 2005 and established “The Weinstein Production”, they were joined by such well-known directors as Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. The company immediately captured public attention with films like “Scary Movie 4”, starring Anna Faris, Anthony Anderson and Carmen Electra, and Duncan Tucker’s “Transamerica” with Felicity Huffman and Kevin Zegers.

In regards to his personal life, Harvey Weinstein was firstly married to Eve Chilton, with whom he had three children, namely Emma, Ruth and Lily. However, the couple divorced in 2004, and three years later Weinstein married Georgina Chapman, with whom he has two children.

#Quote
1 [on his support for petitions to have homosexual men pardoned for sodomy in the United Kingdom, although he incorrectly stated sodomy laws only went back 60 years when they actually go back to the Buggery Act of 1533 under Henry VIII and he stated it was decriminalized in the Seventies when it was actually 1967] Stephen Fry and Benedict Cumberbatch have asked for petitions to get 49,000 men who were arrested just for their sexual preference, no other reason, and while Alan Turing was pardoned by the Queen in 2013 there's been a law on the books here [the UK] for 60 years that got repealed in the Seventies, so Matt Damon, Harry Styles, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Julian Fellowes, just so many people have signed this petition which will be presented to Her Majesty's government as well as the Royal Family in an effort to pardon these 49,000 people who were jailed for no other reason. Big injustice, so you see the Pride (2014) thing and then you see The Imitation Game (2014), it doesn't seem to have quite gone away, not as simple as that.
2 The secret of making movies is having the strongest possible script.
3 I know Mel, and he's basically a good guy. The Passion of the Christ (2004) is very tough on Jews, and I didn't hold back from telling him so - but he says I'm wrong about that. Before producing a film for Mel, I would have a very serious discussion with him, so that I could be absolutely certain that he has really changed. If someone is against blacks, Jews or Arabs, even if their hands were filled with gold, I would, in principle, never work with them. - On Mel Gibson
4 Having kids has made me much more mature. The anger is gone. There's a sweetness there.
5 A man can dream is all I can say.
6 "Most of the executives who left Disney; Meg Whitman, Steve Burke, Joe Roth, Jeffrey Katzenberg; have all gone on to create wealth for themselves. Hopefully, Bob and I will follow in that tradition".
7 "All sophisticated investors understand that theatrical release [prints and advertising costs] have to be written off in the quarter you spend it and you realize revenue from home video and television in the next quarter.'
8 We have 65 BAFTAs, 75 Oscars, $2 billion in assets and hundreds of millions in profits. And, still, Michael Eisner won't renew my contract.
