Gregg Allman was born to Willis Turner Allman and Geraldine Robbins Allman, but was raised only by his mother, because he lost his father at the age of two, murdered by a hitchhiker. Thus, the family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, where he started pursuing a career as a musician, together with his older brother, Duane. He matriculated in 1965 from Seabreeze High School, after which he attended Castle Heights Military Academy.
Gregg`s career began in the 1960s, when he and his brother formed the Allman Brothers Band, with Dickey Betts, Jai Johanny “Jaimoe” Johanson, Berry Oakley and Butch Trucks.
