Eric Carmen was born into a family of Russian-Jewish immigrants, and grew up in Lyndhurst, Ohio, being introduced to music from a very early age. When he was six, Carmen took classes from a violinist of the Cleveland Orchestra, his aunt Muriel Carmen, while at 11 he already played the piano, and dreamed of writing his own songs.
