Eric Carmen Net Worth $10 Million

Eric Carmen was born into a family of Russian-Jewish immigrants, and grew up in Lyndhurst, Ohio, being introduced to music from a very early age. When he was six, Carmen took classes from a violinist of the Cleveland Orchestra, his aunt Muriel Carmen, while at 11 he already played the piano, and dreamed of writing his own songs. Eric went to the Charles F. Brush High School and played in such bands as the Harlequins, the Cyrus Erie, the Sounds of Silence, and the Fugitives; he later enrolled at John Carroll University.

In 1970, Carmen, Wally Bryson, Jim Bonfanti, and Dave Smalley formed a band called the Raspberries and released their self-titled debut album in 1972. It reached No. 51 on the Billboard 200 chart, while the single “Go All the Way” peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Also in 1972, they recorded their second album called “Fresh”, which made it to No. 36 on the Billboard 200, while the songs “I Wanna Be With You” and “Let’s Pretend” reached No. 16 and No. 35 respectively on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Raspberries released two more albums before they split up: “Side 3” (1973) and “Starting Over” (1974), but they weren’t as successful as their predecessors. Regardless, Eric’s net worth was now well established.

Carmen started his solo career in 1975 after the breakup of the Raspberries, and released his debut studio self-titled album, which peaked at the No.21 position on the Billboard 200, while the song “All By Myself” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. By the end of the ’70s, Carmen had recorded two more albums: “Boats Against the Current” (1977) and “Change of Heart” (1978), both of which were well received and popular, so increasing his net worth.

In 1980, Eric Carmen launched “Tonight You’re Mine”, which reached No. 160 on Billboard 200, while “Eric Carmen” (1984) peaked at No. 128 position on the Billboard chart. “The Definitive Collection” (1997) and “I Was Born to Love You” (2000) are some of his latest releases, while most recently Carmen recorded “The Essential Eric Carmen” in 2014. His net worth continues to steadily improve.

Regarding his personal life, Eric Carmen married Susan in 1993 and had two children with her before divorcing in 2009. In October 2016, he married the former Los Angeles newscaster Amy Murphy.

#Quote
1 Diane Warren, to my knowledge, has no great knowledge of music theory, and had no classical training, and she is an absolutely great songwriter. I would doubt that Holland (Brian Holland), Dozier (Lamont Dozier) and Holland (Eddie Holland) had classical training. It's not necessary. It doesn't hurt. It certainly helped me. But it's not a prerequisite.
2 I thought that it's a crime that there are some spectacular melodies in classical music that the general public doesn't get exposed to. I thought this was a way for me to bring some of the classical music that I love, incorporate it into a pop song for a new decade of kids, and introduce them to those beautiful melodies that they might not otherwise hear.
