Emo Philips Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Emo Philips is an entertainer, actor and comedian born on 7 February 1956, in Chicago, Illinois USA, and is known for his standup comedies in which he uses the paraprosdokian manner of speech and a falsetto tone of voice. He produces the intended comic timing, and likes black comedy and surreal humor.

Have you ever wondered how rich Emo Philips is? According to sources it has been estimated that Emo Philips’ overall net worth is $3 million. Emo has acquired his net worth thanks to his huge success as a stand-up comedian, but also for his numerous guest appearances in various TV series. Apart from these, Philips has recorded three comedy albums which have added to his net worth. Since he is still active in the entertainment industry, his net worth continues to grow.

Emo went to Downers Grove South High School and upon graduation, he started performing his stand-up comedy routine in various Chicago comedy clubs during the early 1980s. His talent soon turned out to be impressive, and he was named the best joke writer in America by Jay Leno, and three of his jokes were judged among the best seventy-five of all time by a survey of GQ Magazine. However, his true breakthrough came in 1984 when he made an appearance on “Late Night with David Letterman”. It was the same year that his first comedy album “E=MO Squared” was released, which won the New Music Award for the best comedy album of the year. His net worth was beginning to rise.

A year later Emo made his TV-acting debut, by guest-starring in an episode of Miami Vice with Phil Collins. His film-acting debut came in 1989 when he appeared in “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, which unfortunately gained very bad critiques. The same year, Philips took part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, where he sold out over a dozen shows, proving his enormous popularity. This resulted in a two-week UK tour, a run at a West End theater, a Channel Four Special, and a series of advertisements for Sony electronics. He also appeared in “The Bob Monkhouse Show” and “Friday Live”. Emo also had a guest-appearance in the UHF film in 1989 with Weird Al Yankovic. Being Yankovic’s close friend, Philips made several TV appearances with him ever since. His net worth was steady.

In the following years, he had a few more film roles including in “Meet the Parents” (1992), “The Can Man” (1992) and “Desperation Boulevard”(1998). His discography counts three comedy albums, the first one being the “E=mo squared” album which was later re-released along with his second one on a double CD. During his successful career, Philips has also had various voiceover credits that, among others, include contributions in the animated series “Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist”, “Space Ghost: Coast to Coast” and “Slacker Cats”. Channel 4 named Phillips the 54th greatest stand-up comedian of all time.

When it comes to his private life, Emo has married three times. His first marriage was to Judy Tenuta in 1988, but the couple divorced soon after. In 2000 he married Carmi, but the marriage didn’t last long either. He has been married to Kipleigh Brown since November 2011. Emo has no children from any of his marriages.
