Ellen Barkin Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Ellen Rona Barkin is an american actress whose net worth is estimated to be around $60 million. Though she was born in America, her parents come from Siberian immigrants and the household she grew up in was Jewish. Ellen was born on April 16, 1954 in The Bronx, New York City and attended the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. Later on she double majored in history and drama at Hunter College, and then continued learning acting in New York City‘s Actors Studio. It‘s reported that she studied for about ten years before her first acting job audition.

Ellen Barkin Net Worth $60 Million

Barkin‘s breakthrough role was in the comedy drama Diner in 1982. This role earned her mostly positive reviews which helped her to be picked for many other movie roles; the next year she appeared in two drama films – Tender Mercies and Eddie and the Cruisers. The makers of Tender Mercies admitted to being impressed with Ellen despite her inexperience. In 1987 she was cast in Sea of Love with Al Pacino, and in 1989 The Big Easy with Dennis Quaid. Both these movies ended up being huge successes and gave a big boost to Ellen‘s career and net worth. However, she kept working. Around the same time she appeared in some plays such as Extremities and Eden Court, and received high praise for her performance in the former.

Through 1988 – 1991 she appeared in four movies that earned her nominations for various best actress awards: Clinton and Nadine, Johny Handsome, Sea Of Love and Switch. Later on she has appeared in some television films – Before Women Had Wings in 1997, and then winning an Emmy for her performance in The White River Kid in 1999. In 2005 Ellen established a film company with her brother George and her husband Ronald Perelman, who heavily invested in the company. In 2011 she appeared in her first Broadway production, The Normal Heart, for which she won a Tony Award as the Best Actress Featured in a Play.

In the same year she was in the movie Another Happy Day, where she was recognized as one of the best female performances of the year by IndieWire. All these performances and awards sharply raised Barkin‘s net worth.
Currently she is the voice heard at the start of every Theme Time Radio Hour with Bob Dylan on XM radio‘s Deep Track, filmed in Hands of Stone.

It might sound weird, but her personal life could also have affected Ellen‘s net worth. In a divorce from her first husband Gabriel Byrne, she won $20 million in a court case. In 2007, she sued her second husband Ronald Perelman for not investing the promised amount in the film company mentioned earlier, and won $3.4 million.

Currently Ellen is the mother of two children – Jack Daniel, born in 1989 and Romy Barion, born in 1992. She also has a brother who was once the chief editor High Times and National Lampoon.

Ellen Barkin is considered to be one of the best female actresses, and hopefully this helps justify her huge $60 million net worth.

#Quote
1 [In a 1984 interview concerning her career] It's like having been brought up in the best neighborhood and having been to the best schools. It's kind of nice to be 29 and have people refer to you as a character actor.
2 It's difficult to get into trouble if you don't take yourself too seriously.
3 [on working with Paul Newman] You forget he's Paul Newman on the set after a while... that is until you look into his eyes.
4 I'd rather just be stuck at home watching Turner Classic Movies. I'm stuck with a book and old movies, that's pretty much the beginning and end of my life.
5 [on becoming a young actress in the 2000s] Their careers are over in a blink. So I think it's harder for them to feel motivated to exhibit a real professionalism because they must wonder how long they are really going to be around for. It's really bad. There are exceptions obviously. There's no slow build anymore where you get a little part, then you get a little better part, then a better part until one day your agent calls you us and says 'guess what you're a movie star' and you say 'thank you!
6 A successful marriage isn't necessarily one that lasts until you're dead. (Parade magazine, May 13, 2007)
7 [of her second marriage] What the hell was I thinking? Marry a rich guy? Was I crazy? I didn't need that. I was already at the party. I didn't need someone to get me through the door. How could I be so clueless about who I am and what I value? Did I actually think I was going to give up working? It's important for me to work. (Parade magazine, May 13, 2007)
8 [Speaking in 1987] It's difficult to be married outside the profession. A lawyer might not understand that going to bed with Gabriel Byrne for three days is work for me.
9 No more bare bodies in film scenes for me. For my children's sake, I must stop. The other kids at school keep throwing it up to my children, and they are not kind.
