His first work as an adult was as an usher in a cinema, and that gave David a chance to see almost every movie which was shown on screen during his work time. Always friendly and cheerful, David Caruso was in a great relationship with all his co-workers and they even tried to make their job funnier playing the movie scenes in the back of the theatre. Thanks to his first job, Caruso started to admire some famous American actors such as James Francis (Jimmy) Cagney and Humphrey Bogart which later had some influence on his acting.

His professional acting career Caruso began in 1984 in the film “Thief of Hearts” which became known in the USA and Europe. After such a great performance, in 1995 he even won the best film actor Emmy after appearing in more Hollywood films.  But his most known role for everyone still is the famous role of Lieutenant Horatio Caine from the show called “CSI: Miami”. For every episode of the show David, earned 375,000 dollars and that has become the main source of Caruso net worth, which is currently $35 million. During his career Caruso has also appeared in movies “First Blood”, “China Girl”, Blue City” and “An Officer and a Gentleman”. His first TV shows were “Crime Story” and “Hill Street Blues”.

His first wife was an actress Cheri Maugans, best known for her roles in “Friday the 13th Part III” and “Tucker’s Witch”, but the couple divorced in 1984 after five years of living together. David’s second wife Rache Ticotin was also an actress, who appeared in the movies “Fort Apache”, “The Bronx” and also in the NBC legal drama “Law & Order: Los Angeles” as Lt. Arleen Gnzales. The couple had a daughter named Greta, but divorced after six years in 1989. Caruso’s third wife was Margaret Buckley, but this marriage also ended in divorce in 2007, and today David Caruso is single.

3 Lives in Sherman Oaks, California and Miami Beach, Florida.
4 Is right-handed but left eye dominant, evident when he is shooting his pistol on CSI: Miami (2002).
5 Not related to the famous opera singer Enrico Caruso (1873-1921).
6 A younger sister, Joyce Caruso, produces Fox News in New York.
7 He once worked for a police department, standing in lineups for $25.
8 In 1994, (according to court record) his ex-girlfriend, Paris Papiro, filed a palimony suit in which Caruso ended up paying an undisclosed sum in early 1995.
9 In the very first episode of the irreverent animated series South Park (1997) entitled "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe", Kyle urges his brother to jump from the open cargo-bay door of a hovering alien spaceship by saying, "Quick, Ike, do your impersonation of David Caruso's career," in reference to Caruso's then-lack of success after leaving NYPD Blue (1993). This scene was widely used in promos for the series.
10 He hopes to buy a home on the French Riviera when he retires.
11 Daughter, Paloma Raquel, born October 16, 2007 (mother is girlfriend Liza Marquez).
12 Son, Marquez Anthony, born September 15, 2005 (mother is girlfriend Liza Marquez).
13 Has had more success as a television actor than a movie actor. He was a popular cast member of NYPD Blue (1993), then quit that show to become a movie actor. After a series of unsuccessful movies, he joined the cast of CSI: Miami (2002), which shot him back into stardom.
14 He was cast as Archie Andrews in a 1976 pilot based on the "Archie" comic strip, but did not work out. He was replaced before shooting began by Dennis Bowen.
15 His father is Italian, his mother is Irish.
16 Was a co-owner of now-defunct Steam, an upscale clothing and home furnishings store in South Miami, Florida.
17 Attended and graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, Queens, New York.
18 Daughter, Greta, born June 1, 1984, with Rachel Ticotin. Currently attends Yale University.

1 [on doing movies after NYPD Blue (1993)] It really comes down to the fact that, because I was perceived as a bad guy for leaving the show, I think people were rooting against the movies. That was really unfortunate.
2 I was a guy who abandoned a TV show. I didn't care about people. They didn't want to see good things happen to me.
3 If you're not willing to risk, there are no rewards.
4 [on his successful comeback in Hollywood, as the star of CSI: Miami (2002)] For somebody who fell to the place that I fell in terms of unemployment and a damaged reputation, the fact that this town was willing to give me another chance is incredible.
5 NYPD Blue (1993) will not be successful when I leave.
6 There have been times when it's been hard for me to find work. I'm still a young man and I have a lot to give. If I don't get any more chances on a major level, there's not much I can do about it.

1 Frequently plays policemen and authority figures
2 Known for putting his sunglasses on while saying his famous one-liners on TV.
