Da Brat Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Shawntae Harris, also known for a wide audience as Dr. Brat and Da Brat, is an American actress and rapper who has a net worth amounting to $1.5 million. Da Brat was one of several females who broke into the hip-hop scene in the mid-90’s, and even her first album made Shawntae extremely popular. Today Da Brat is also known as the first female who managed to create an album which was certified Platinum, and there is no doubt about how highly this fact increased Da Brat’s net worth.

Da Brat Net Worth $1.5 Million

Shawntae Harris is the birth name of the rapper and actress Da Brat. She was born on April 14, 1974, in Joliet, Illinois, US. She was raised by both mother and father, however, her parents didn’t marry, and that’s why we can say that Shawntae actually had two homes. At an early age Da Brat was learning to play drums and sing in the choir while attending Pentecostal church several times a week. She graduated from the Academy of Scholastic Achievement in 1993. It is also needs to be mentioned that Harris wasn’t the only one in the family who was building net worth: her sister LisaRaye McCoy is also a famous American actress, and a fashion designer too.

Harris started her serious career as a rapper in 1993, when she won a contest of rappers in her hometown which was sponsored by MTV. As a prize she got an opportunity to meet with famous rappers Chris Kelly “Mac Daddy” and his partner Chris Smith “Daddy Mac” from the American duo titled “Kriss Kross”. After the meeting, with the help of the duo Da Brat was introduced to Jermaine Dupri – American songwriter and record producer. From then onwards, after signing a contract Shawntae’s net worth started to rise extremely quickly as she debuted with the album “Funkdafied” released in 1994. She rocketed to fame as this album peaked at number 11 on the famous Billboard 200, which of course increased Harris’ net worth even more. After this success, Da Brat released three more albums: “Anuthatantrum” in 1996, “Unrestricted” in 2000 and “Lilelite, Luv & Niteclubz” in 2003.

Until 2006, Da Brat also appeared in different TV shows and even movies. The first time she appeared on TV in 1994 was as a musical guest in the American live-action comedy show titled “All That”, and only two years later she was already playing herself in the movie “Kazaam” directed by Paul M. Glaser. Her most recent notable appearance in a movie which increased the net worth of Da Brat was in 2006, when she played the main character Camisha in “30 Days”. Since then Da Brat hasn’t made any progress in the film industry. Nowadays Da Brat continues her musical career while making many numerous remixes and even releasing some new singles, so the fans of Da Brat should be happy.
