Apart from appearing on screen in films and TV series, Christine has also had a notable career on stage, earning Tony Awards for her work on “The Real Thing” in 1984 and “Rumors” in 1989, among other productions, which also improved her net worth.

Christine Baranski Net Worth $14 Million

Christine is of Polish heritage, as her grandparents were from Poland and worked as actors in theaters across Poland. She is the daughter of Virginia and Lucien Baranski, and grew up in her hometown, where she went to the Villa Maria Academy. After matriculation, Christine enrolled the New York City`s Julliard School, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. She then attended the Lincoln Center, before venturing on an acting career; as early as 1980.

Christine made her professional on-stage debut in the off-Broadway production of “Coming Attractions” at Playwrights Horizons, and the same year appeared on Broadway for the first time in “Hide & Seek”, since when she has featured in numerous productions, including “The House Of Blue Leaves”, Regrets Only”, Nick & Nora”, “Hurlyburly”, “Boeing Boeing”, among others, all of which certainly increased her net worth.

With her budding stage career, Christine made her debut on film in “Playing for Time” (1980), starring Vanessa Redgrave and Jane Alexander, and continued with roles in “Soup for One” (1982), and “A Midsummer Night`s Dream” the same year. In 1983 she featured in the film “Lovesick”, and a year later appeared in “Crackers”, with Donald Sutherland and Sean Penn as leads. In the second half of the 1980s, Christine appeared in the films “9½ Weeks” (1986), with Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger, “Legal Eagles” (1986), and “The Pick-Up Artist” (1997).

Her first role in the next decade was as Lucy in the film “The Night We Never Met” (1993), and in the same year, she appeared in “Life With Mikey”, “Adams Family Values” with Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd, increasing further her net worth, and in 1994 she also had several projects including “Getting In” and ‘The Ref”.

In 1995 she was selected for the role of Maryann Thorpe in the sitcom “Cybill” (1995-1998), which not only increased her net worth but also boosted her popularity. Christine finished the 1990s with appearances in “Cruel Intentions” (1999) with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe, and “Bowfinger” (1999) starring Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy.

She began the new millennium with a role in “Ron Howard`s “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000), and moved on to portray Marsha Bickner in the TV series “Welcome To New York” (2000-2001). Three years later she had a supporting role in the film “In the Game”, and also featured in “Welcome To Mooseport” the same year.

Christine`s net worth then increased thanks to her appearances in films “Adopted” (2005), “Falling For Grace” (2006), “Relative Strangers” (2006), “Inseparable” (2006), and “Mamma Mia” (2008). In 2009 she was cast in roles which would change the course of her career for the better, firstly as Diane Lockhart in the drama mystery TV series “The Good Wife” (2009-2016), and the second one as Dr. Beverly Hofstadter in the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” (2009-2016). While focused on these shows, she still managed to appear in other roles, including in the films “The Bounty Hunter” (2010), “Who Is Simon Miller” (2011), “Into The Woods” (2014), which added a substantial amount to her net worth.

Thanks to her skills, Christine has received several prestigious awards, including the SAG Award in the category Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her work on “Cybill”, for which show she also won a Primetime Emmy Award in the category Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Regarding her personal life, Christine was married to actor Matthew Cowles from 1983 until 2014, when he died. The couple has two daughters.

#Fact
1 Before hitting it "big" on the TV series "Cybil," she had already completed close to 20 years success in New York theater, both on and off Broadway, garnering wins in all major acting areas (Tony Award, Obie Award, Lortel Award, and Drama Desk Award).
2 Has 2 daughters with her now late husband Matthew Cowles - Isabel Cowles (b.1984) & Lily Cowles (b.1987).
3 In her acceptance speech for her second Tony Award for the Broadway play "Rumors", she announced that her win made her the 100th person to ever receive an award for working on or appearing in a Neil Simon production in film, television or theater.
4 In an interview on NPR, she shared that her #1 football loyalty is to her hometown Buffalo Bills, but that she defaults to the New England Patriots if the Bills don't advance.
5 She won her first Tony Award in the Broadway play "The Real Thing", in which she played a woman having an affair with a character played by Jeremy Irons (who also won a Tony Award). Five years later, she appeared in the film Reversal of Fortune (1990), in which she again played a woman having an affair with a character played by Jeremy Irons, who this time won an Oscar for his performance.
6 Currently lives in Conneticut.
7 Her parents were both of Polish descent.
8 At age 19 in Juilliard, she was awarded $1000 for living expenses because she was "the most hard-working, economically needy student". But instead, she admits, she used the money to spend two months in Europe.
9 Studied acting with Michael Howard in New York City.
10 Her daughter, Lily Cowles, is a student at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.
11 Has won two Tony Awards as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play): in 1984 for Tom Stoppard's "The Real Thing"; and in 1989 for "Rumors".
12 Parents are Lucien and Virginia Baranski.
13 Received her Bachelor's degree from Juilliard School in 1974.
14 Attended high school at the Villa Maria Motherhouse Complex.
15 Mother, with Matthew Cowles, of daughters Isabel Cowles (born in 1984) and Lily Cowles (born in 1987).
16 May 28, 1991: Starred in the first production of Terrence McNally's play "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" with Swoosie Kurtz, Nathan Lane and Anthony Heald.
17 Raises her children without television because she doesn't approve of the sexual content and violence on the screen.
