Flay managed to impress the owner of the restaurant Joe Allen who even suggested that he would pay his tuition at the International Culinary Center, where Flay received a culinary arts degree.

After graduating from the culinary school, Bobby Flay took many job offers, none of which were as successful as the position of a chef in the “Mesa Grill” restaurant which he was offered later. Eventually, Flay became partnered with Laurence Kretchmer who gave him the job, and soon afterwards Flay opened another “Mesa Grill” restaurant, this time in Las Vegas. Flay’s “Mesa Grill” in Vegas earned him his only Michelin Star. Flay kept opening restaurants in the biggest cities in the United States and around the same time debuted on television screens.
