He was educated at St. John’s Preparatory School and graduated from it achieving high grades. Burnham was invited to study at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, however he postponed his studies in order to pursue a career in entertainment.

Concerning the career of Burnham, while still studying at high school he started recording himself singing in his bedroom, and posted these videos on YouTube. His first song was “My Whole Family Thinks I’m Gay” (2006) which received millions of ‘likes’. His audience grew almost every day, as he continued his recordings, singing about various subjects including religion, sex, gender, race and other. As a result of his success online and popularity of his recorded performance “The World Stands Up” (2008), Bo signed a contract with Comedy Central Records. Reportedly, he has released three studio albums, two singles and EPs. It is important to say that all three studio albums topped the Billboard Comedy Top 10, and his debut album “Bo Burnham” (2009) was certified gold in the USA. Due to his rising popularity, Bo started touring the country, and up to date he has organised five successful tours. With popularity came recognition, as Bo Burnham won the Edinburgh Comedy Award as well as the Malcolm Hardee Award with “Act Most Likely to Make a Million Quid”, both in 2010. To conclude, his songs have brought not only fame but have been financially profitable and added huge sums to the total size of Bo Burnham’s net worth.

Later, he appeared in the films “Funny People” (2009) directed, written and co-produced by Judd Apatow and “Hall Pass” (2011) directed, co-written and co-produced by brothers Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly. Worth mentioning is that Bo Burnham landed the lead role in the television comedy series “Zack Stone Is Gonna Be Famous” (2013) which was created by himself and Dan Lagana, and Bo has also produced the series. However, the reviews of the series were mixed, and as a result of low ratings it was cancelled. Other television appearances include roles in “Parks and Recreation” (2014) and “Kroll Show” (2015).

#Quote
1 You deserve better than a shout-out from your idol.
2 Quotes are for dumb people who can't think of something intelligent to say on their own.
3 Most of my songs make fun of myself.
4 I think it would collapse my heart if I was super famous. I don't have the nerve for it, I'm too anxious. I don't know how you're not obsessed with how people perceive you, because they're real people, you know? You can convince yourself that they don't really know you, and that's true, but how can it not hurt your feelings?
5 In high school, I worked eight hours a day just so I could get into the college of my dreams and say that I got in - and I never went.
6 [when being called homophobic] It's so ironic because gay bashers were the ones labeling me in high school. I try and write satire that's well-intentioned. But those intentions have to be hidden. It can't be completely clear and that's what makes it comedy.
