Antonio Juan Fargas, born on 14 August 1946, is an American actor who became famous in his blaxploitation films in the ‘70’s, and in his role in the television series “Starsky and Hutch”.
So how much is Fargas’ net worth? As of late 2016, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $1 million, acquired from his years as an actor both in movie, television and stage which began in the early 1960s.
Antonio Fargas Net Worth $1 million
Born in New York City, Fargas is the son of Mildred Bailey a homemaker who is of Trinidadian descent, and Manual Fargas, who worked on public relations and is of Puerto Rican descent. With 10 siblings, he grew up in the housing projects on Manhattan’s Lower West Side.
Fargas’ career started as early as his high school years. When he was in his sophomore year, he auditioned for an independent film called “Cool World” and got the part. During his younger years he also joined a youth group called Harlem Youth Opportunities Limited where he honed his skills in acting. From his first film opportunity, Fargas continued working on his skills and never looked back.
In 1963, he joined a stage production called “The Toilet” and it became the start of his career on the stage. Some of the other productions he became a part of included “The Great White Hope”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Ceremonies in Dark Old Men”. His early years in stage plays started his career in acting and also helped set up his net worth. Upon the ‘70’s, Fargas became involved in movies participating in mostly ‘blaxploitation’ films. He broke into the movie scene with the film “Shaft” in 1971, followed by “Cleopatra Jones” in 1973, “Foxy Brown” in 1974 and “Conrack”.
In 1975, Fargas had a breakthrough in his career when he became part of the television series “Starsky and Hutch”, playing the role of the police informant Huggy Bear who became a fan favourite. The creators of the show originally intended for his part to last for only a few episodes, but his performance and chemistry with the lead actors made him a constant face in the show, with which he subsequently stayed until it ended in1979. The show not only catapulted him to stardom but also increased his net worth tremendously.
After the success of “Starsky and Hutch”, Fargas came back to the stage and acted in a couple of productions in the ‘80s; some of his projects included “Providence Journal”, “Toussaint, Angel Warrior of Haiti”, and “Measure for Measure” to name a few. He also continued his career in the ‘90s, appearing in various television shows like “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, “Martin”, “The Steve Harvey Show”, and “Living Single”. His various projects on both stage and television also helped increase his wealth.
Today, Fargas is still active as an actor, and continues to appear in various television shows, which have recently included “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”, “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Lie to Me”. He also owns a production company known as Granada Entertainment”.
In terms of his personal life, Fargas has been married twice, firstly to Taylor Hastie (1979–1988), and since 1990 to Sandra Read, with whom he has two children.

Quote
1
He (Huggy Bear) wasn't a pimp. This whole glorification of pimps and all that makes people think that. But they never told you what he did. One minute he had a bar, the next minute he was a guy on the street hustling, but he was always in the know. But he was never a pimp. The guy who was on 'Baretta' was a pimp. His character was called The Rooster. Plus there were other roles were I had played pimps so a lot of people may have thought that.
